Craig David will return to Australia next year to celebrate the anniversary of his iconic debut album, Born To Do It.

The Southampton-born artist will embark on a world tour next year for the record’s 26th anniversary, which includes stops next May in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Melbourne and Perth, where he will perform the album in full, as well as other hits from his catalogue.

Released on August 14th, 2000, Born To Do It featured a string of what are now some of David’s most popular tracks – “Fill Me In”, “7 Days”, and “Walking Away”, just to name a few. As well as reaching the top of music charts worldwide, Born to Do It was a massive commercial success and is widely considered one of the best R&B albums ever.

“26 years ago, Born To Do It changed my life! My two shows at London’s Hammersmith Apollo earlier this year were such an incredible vibe, and they meant so much to me. Playing the album front to back with my band for the first time brought back so many amazing memories,” David said.

“Because of that, I’ve decided to take this show around the world to my wonderful fans, and I’m excited to announce that I’m coming back to Australia. I can’t wait to see you there!”

In an interview with Rolling Stone AU/NZ last year in support of his latest album, Commitment, David touched on releasing that record just one week before the 25th anniversary of Born To Do It.

“It was very divine,” he said. “I knew it was the 25th anniversary of Born to Do It, but I didn’t know it was on the 16th. And [Commitment] was gonna be a month earlier, and then it got pushed back to this new date. I was like, ‘No, you can’t make this up.’

“Second and third albums, for me, I felt were like were kind of more the pressure albums, because especially off the back of Born to Do It having success, you’re just a little bit behind the eight ball and a bit like you’re looking at the environment and you’re trying to work out where do you sit in the mix of it.”

General public tickets for the Australian tour go on sale from 2pm local time on Wednesday, October 28th. Click here for more details and check out all of the dates below.
