The full list of nominations for this year’s ARIA Awards were announced this morning, with Melbourne songwriter Courtney Barnett leading the field with a total of eight nominations for her debut album Sometimes I Sit And Think, And Sometimes I Just Sit, ahead of Blue Mountains duo, Hermitude, and breakthrough artist Vance Joy, both picking up seven nominations apiece.

The ‘Artisan Award’ winners were also announced at the ceremony in Sydney today, with Tame Impala’s Kevin Parker picking up both engineer and producer of the year for his work on the band’s latest album Currents. Tame Impala are also nominated for five more awards, to be announced at the main ceremony on November 26.
Up-and-coming artists were also featured, including Meg Mac who is up for two awards and Brisbane songwriter Jarryd James who has received a total of five nominations for his breakout single “Do You Remember” and recently released debut album Thirty One. Szymon has also been acknowledged, the artist’s posthumous release Tigersapp recognised in the ‘Best Adult Contemporary’ category.
