Following a successful first run of livestreams in the wake of empty venues around the country, Coopers Brewery and Live Nation have teamed up to take the Live, Loud and Local series on the road next year, announcing their first run of shows today.
First announced back in April, the Live, Loud and Local appeared as a way to ensure that both venues and music-lovers weren’t kept in the dark during 2020, with the likes of Illy, The Living End, Jon Stevens, and Ocean Alley all performing livestreamed sets throughout lockdown.
Now, as 2020 tends to a close, and venues around the country cautiously open up again, Live, Loud and Local has announced its return, this time welcoming patrons into the venues to see the artists perform live.
The first run of artists see Crooked Colours kicking things off with a set at Perth’s Hotel Rottnest on January 17th, 2021, The Rubens performing at Selina’s in Sydney on February 3rd, and Bad//Dreems descending upon Adelaide’s Bridgeway Hotel on February 19th. More headline acts and venues are set to follow over the coming months.
“Our first series was all about bringing the pub experience into Australian lounge rooms so patrons stuck at home could still enjoy a night out on the couch,” explained Melanie Cooper, Coopers Brewery Director and fifth generation family member, of the series’ continuation.
“Now we want to help bring great Australian live music back to the stage and encourage people off the couch and into their local pub.
“It’s been a really challenging time for venues, musicians and patrons. Live music is an essential part of our culture as is heading to the local for a social drink with friends. It’s something we’ve all missed. We’re putting together a great series of gigs that will allow fans the chance to see their favourite bands perform live again and support local venues in a socially responsible way.”
“Like an early Elliott Smith song, 2020 has been sad and haunting,” Bad//Dreems drummer Miles Wilson aptly explained. “We’ve really missed the atmosphere of playing live and we’ll be approaching the gig with a sense of anticipation and fantasy.”
Tickets to the currently-announced shows will go on sale from 10am AEDT on Wednesday, December 2nd, with more artists and venues still to be announced.
