Australia’s favourite party starters, Confidence Man, have just dropped their latest single, “SO WHAT”, from their highly anticipated upcoming album, 3AM (LA LA LA), set to be released October 18th.

The new track arrives just weeks after their standout performances at Glastonbury 2024, where they played four sets, including one on the Other Stage, drawing one of the festival’s largest crowds.

“SO WHAT” sees frontwoman Janet Planet deliver a commanding vocal performance, with the song featuring powerful breakdowns that are bound to get the crowd moving.

The band describes it as: We’re back with the on shoulders anthem you never knew you needed. It’s hard. It’s fast. It’s basically Muhammad Ali and your ears are everyone he ever boxed. They say it gets lonely at the top, so we made this banger to share the view.”

Since bursting onto the scene with their debut album in 2018, Confidence Man have carved out a niche with their infectious pop-dance music and choreographed performances.

Their upcoming album, 3AM (LA LA LA), takes inspiration from UK rave sounds of the ’90s and ’00s, incorporating elements of acid techno, trance, breakbeat, and big beat. The result is a darker, more surreal exploration of their musical influences, reflecting a new depth and creativity in their sound.

Their lead single from the album, “I CAN’T LOSE YOU”, was released in June and showcased their ability to mix pop sensibilities with dancefloor-ready beats, setting the stage for a thrilling new chapter in their music.

Following the success of their 2022 album TILT, Confidence Man continued their musical with tracks like “On & On (Again)”, co-produced with Daniel Avery. They’ve also collaborated with artists like DJ Seinfeld on “Now U Do” and DJ Boring on “Forever 2 (Crush Mix)”, and released their remix album Confidence Man Club Classics Vol 1. The band’s mission is to merge the classic sounds of UK rave with modern pop hooks and vocals, creating a fresh and engaging sound that stands out in today’s scene.

“We wanted to revisit those sounds and then add pop hooks and vocals to them,” explains Janet Planet. “I feel like that hasn’t really been done before, besides The Prodigy.”

The creative process for 3AM (LA LA LA) took place at Pony Studios in East London, where the band often worked into the early hours of the morning. “We pretty much wrote every single song when we were wrecked,” says Planet. “We’d get blasted and stay up till 9am coming up with music, but we noticed that 3 am was the hottest time for when we were on it, and the best ideas were coming out.”

Confidence Man’s live shows have earned them a dedicated fanbase of ravers, and their upcoming 3AM (LA LA LA) Australian Tour is set to be a spectacle, with production design by Rob Sinclair, who has worked with the likes of Madonna.

The tour kicks off on Thursday, October 24th, and will visit cities including Fremantle, Adelaide, Sydney, Brisbane, Torquay, and Melbourne. Tickets are available now via Frontier Touring.

Ahead of the album release, Confidence Man has launched a limited edition Picture Disc vinyl, available exclusively via their store.
