With just over three weeks to go until their forthcoming album was scheduled to be released, Client Liaison have revealed that fans will have to wait slightly longer for the record to arrive, but have sweetened the news with the release of new single, “Elevator Up”.
Originally set to be released on September 10th, the group’s second album, Divine Intervention, has now been pushed back by three weeks, making its new release date October 1st. The reason for this delay lies within the current “unpredictable nature of the Australian touring circuit”, which has also seen the group cancel the majority of their national tour.
With tour dates planned to kick off on September 10th, the group’s Sydney, Brisbane, Fremantle, and Adelaide shows have all been cancelled, while their two shows scheduled for Melbourne’s Forum Theatre on October 2nd are set to go ahead.
However, the bad news does come with a musical sweetener, with Client Liaison giving fans a taste of new music by way of fresh single “Elevator Up”. A bouncy synth-heavy track which features the group’s trademark tongue-in-cheek approach to their craft, and intricate instrumentation, it’s a slick piece of work that slides neatly into the group’s already-acclaimed catalogue.
“‘Elevator Up’’is our dirtiest club tune yet,” the pair explain. “The song is for nights that don’t want to end. Always on the move, seeking a higher high but forever stuck in the party purgatory between heaven and hell. ‘Are we going up? Are we going down? Are we going home? Are we staying out?'”
The new single also comes accompanied by a Peter Hume-directed video, which sees the pair coming “face to face with the seven deadly sins on their elevator journey to a higher place”.
The group are also set to appear on triple j’s Like a Version segment on Friday, August 20th, but it’s not yet known whether “Elevator Up” will receive an airing, or if they’ll be picking from their other recently-released singles.
Client Liaison’s “Elevator Up” is out now, while new album Diplomatic Immunity will now be released on October 1st, with pre-orders available now.
