Coldplay’s Chris Martin sang a tender version of his band’s recent ballad “All My Love” for the Grammys‘ In Memoriam segment, honouring musicians who died this year, including One Direction’s Liam Payne, the Allman Brothers’ Dicky Betts, Marianne Faithfull, Garth Hudson, Toby Keith, and Rich Homie Quan. He was joined by a small string section as well as young guitar virtuoso Grace Bowers, who added two emotive solos to the song.
Coldplay is not up for any awards this year, but they have a career total of 39 nominations and seven wins. The band released their 10th album, Moon Music, in October. The album is the second part of their Music of the Spheres project, following 2021’s From Earth With Love. Since 2022, the band has been on an ongoing, world-spanning Music of the Spheres tour. It is the most-attended tour of all-time and second-highest-grossing, falling behind Taylor Swift’s Eras Tour.
In his recent Rolling Stone cover story, Martin revealed that there will only be two more Coldplay albums: an animated musical based on a story he has written with the band’s manager and creative director Phil Harvey, and then a return to their original sound simply titled Coldplay.
“The cover of the album, I’ve known it since 1999,” Martin said. “It’s a photograph by the same photographer that took the photo that’s the cover of our first EP.” He revealed that the band would then continue touring as a legacy act.
Recently, Coldplay released the trailer for A Film for the Future, a visual companion to Moon Music. Their next run of Music of the Spheres tour dates will kick off in Hong Kong this April. In August and September, they will headline 10 nights at England’s Wembley Stadium.
