Camila Cabello is the latest US pop star to pay tribute to an Australian classic on tour.

The Cuban-born singer and former Fifth Harmony member performed a stripped-down piano version of Natalie Imbruglia’s 1997 hit “Torn” at her Melbourne show last night (August 27th).

She’s not alone. Gracie Abrams and Dua Lipa have also covered the track on recent Australian tours, making “Torn” arguably the most popular Aussie song with overseas pop stars.

“Here’s the piping hot tea, right. We’re in Australia, so I thought I should cover an Aussie,” she told the crowd at Margaret Court Arena. “This is one of my favourite songs ever, and I’m really excited to sing it.”

The rest of the night quickly turned into a high-energy pop spectacle. Cabello appeared atop a giant inflatable white dome, fireworks blazing, before her backup dancers joined with sultry, precision choreography.

The elaborate custom-built stage design moved and opened to reveal stairs, cutouts, and hidden spaces (an easy win with local crowds, especially when some artists skip big-stage setups here), with screens showing close-ups of Cabello singing and dancing.

She ran through hits like the salsa-infused “Havana”, “Señorita”, and “Never Be the Same”, alongside new album tracks such as piano-backed “B.O.A.T.” and standout “Chanel No.5”. The night closed with the high-octane Playboi Carti collaboration, “I LUV IT”.

Cabello connected with the crowd throughout, showcasing her vocals, dance moves, and undeniable star power. She dedicated “DREAM-GIRLS” to a fan flown in from Colombia, speaking to her in Spanish, and gave shoutouts to long-time fans she spotted in the audience.

“It’s been too long since we’ve been back in Australia… I’ve stuffed my face with Tim Tams. Thank you, Melbourne, you legends!”

Presented by Frontier Touring, Camila Cabello’s Australian tour continues in Sydney on Saturday, August 30th. Tickets are available here
