Budjerah is back.

The multiple ARIA Award-winning artist has released “Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense”, his first single of the year, and also announced a headline tour of Australia.

Budjerah’s new song features a typically stunning vocal performance, while it also boasts perhaps his biggest chorus yet.

“Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense” started out humbly – a song about Budjerah’s struggles with quitting coffee – but it became something much bigger, morphing into a cathartic expression of frustration at the downsides of fame.

“‘Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense’ is pretty much how I’m feeling about every aspect of my life right now. My life, in the last couple of years, has changed so much, thanks to my fans, but at times it’s been a little tough to deal with, with so many different things happening at once. This song simply puts all my emotions into about three minutes,” Budjerah says.

Also announced today, Budjerah is hitting the road for a run of headline shows this September.

The “Video Games” singer will perform in Brisbane, Sydney, Adelaide, Perth, Melbourne, and Brunswick Heads that month on his ‘Therapy Sessions Tour’ (see full dates below).

Tickets go on sale to the general public on Wednesday, July 24th at 1pm local time. The Artist pre-sale begins on Monday, July 22nd at 11am local time, while the Spotify pre-sale begins on Tuesday, July 23rd at 12pm local time.

Budjerah enjoyed a blockbuster year in 2023, winning Best New Artist at the 2023 Shure Rolling Stone Australia Awards in April and also memorably duetting with Tina Arena at the Sydney ceremony. He also memorably supported Ed Sheeran in arenas around the country.

Budjerah followed that up by being included in our ‘Future of Music’ series this year, our list of 25 of the most exciting and innovative artists from Australia and Aotearoa we believe are destined for the very top.

“Multiple ARIA Awards before the age of 22. Best New Artist winner at the 2023 Rolling Stone Australia Awards. Ed Sheeran’s stadium tour mate. Budjerah has already conquered Australia, and now the young pop sensation is coming for the rest of the world,” we wrote.

“To discover Budjerah’s singing is to imagine what an older generation of Australians must have felt like encountering John Farnham for the first time: heart-wrenching, soul-stirring voices that will be listened to and remembered for decades to come.

“A proudly vulnerable performer, Budjerah’s pleading vocals power his biggest hit to date, ‘Therapy’, an ode to the importance of real communication in relationships.

As Artist of the Year at last year’s National Indigenous Music Awards, when Budjerah finally unveils his first full studio album, it will be one of the most exciting Australian debuts in recent memory.”

Budjerah’s “Is It Ever Gonna Make Sense” is out now via Warner Music Australia.
