Ed Sheeran has released a remix of his hit single “2step”, and the updated track includes a new verse from Australia’s own Budjerah.
The 20-year-old Aboriginal Australian singer-songwriter is set to make his mark internationally with the track after already becoming well established in Australia. He’s signed with Warner Music Australia and recently won the award for Most Performed R&B/Soul Work for “Higher” at the APRA Awards. Budjerah. also won an ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist last year, and the award was presented to him by Ed Sheeran.
“I was so shocked to have won my first ARIA Award for Breakthrough Artist at last year’s ARIAs, and it meant so much to me that Ed Sheeran was the one who read my name out. To now be featured on the Australian remix of Ed’s track 2Step and have it released globally as I’m just starting my first overseas tour, it’s really exciting!!” Budjerah said of his collab with Sheeran.
Budjerah announced the news on his Instagram account this morning. “IT’S HERE!! I’m so excited to share this remix with you all. Huge thank you to @teddysphotos for letting me be part of this, I had SO much fun with this track! Hope you all like it,” he wrote.

Sheeran has released four remixes of “2Step” and has been teaming up with an artist from a different country each time. His first remix featured Ukraine artist Antytila, and he has since dropped versions with Finnish musician Ellinoora, Italy’s Ultimo, and Sweedish rapper 1.Cuz.

To tie in with the release of “2Step”, Budjerah has dropped the official video for his latest single “Get Down”.
“‘Get Down’ feels quite abstract to me. The choices we made when writing the song were very different to what I’d normally do and I felt very adventurous. I really wanted to do the same thing for the video and I had so much fun on set. I love how it turned out,” the artist said of the new video, which was directed by Tatjana Hamilton.
The infectious track was produced by Matt Corby, who has a long history of working with Budjerah and the artist revealed that the pair set out to capture a persistent and committed theme.
“’Get Down’ is about the idea that I’ve come so far now, I have to keep going, it’s too late to stop what I’m doing now,” he revealed.
Budjerah kicked off his European tour last night, performing at the Jazz Cafe in London. He will continue playing headline shows in Europe before heading off for his US leg of the tour at the end of the month before coming back to our shores to play a range of shows as a special guest for Vance Joy in September and October.
