Suga penned a heartfelt message to fans on Saturday, the same day the BTS member’s mandatory military service officially came to an end.
“Hello everyone, it’s good to see you. This is Suga. It’s been about two years. How have you all been?” the K-pop singer wrote in a statement posted on the fan community platform Weverse.
“As of today, I have been discharged from the military and am greeting you all for the first time in a long while. Because it’s a day I’ve been waiting for, and it’s also been such a long time, I pondered a lot about how to greet you. First, above all else, I wanted to sincerely thank my fans for waiting for me until now. I really missed you.”
Earlier this week, BTS’ label Big Hit announced that Suga had finished his two-year military tenure as a social service agent, though the official date of completion was June 21.
“I think that over the past two years, I took time to think about myself,” Suga continued.
“In particular, I also felt that I needed to temporarily distance myself and step back from the work I’d been doing for a long time. Before, I’d only been racing forward without looking back on myself, but this time gave me the opportunity to reflect on myself once again.”
Although all seven members of BTS have now completed their mandatory military service, there are no immediate plans for the K-pop group’s reunion; Big Hit also refrained from any “special events” to celebrate Suga’s discharge, as “overcrowding can pose safety risks, and we sincerely request our fans not to visit the sites in person. Please convey your warm regards and encouragement in your hearts.”

In his message to fans, Suga also apologized for his the incident where he operated an electric scooter under the influence in Seoul in August 2024, “I apologize for disappointing you and giving you cause for concern through the incident from last year. What upset me most of all was the fact that I hurt the hearts of my fans.”
Suga concluded his note, “I love you. Everyone, I’ll share updates with you often.”
