Music legend Bruce Springsteen has heaped praise upon singer-songwriter Lana Del Rey in his popular DJ series From My Home To Yours on SiriusXM, declaring that the 35-year-old is one of the “best songwriters” in the country.

Throughout lockdown, Springsteen has utilised his extra time by delighting fans as he plays records from his own personal collection and shares his thoughts on the tracks while relating them to his own experiences.

In his most recent episode, he played Del Rey’s 2012 track “American,” which makes reference to Bruce Springsteen himself, saying: “Springsteen is the king, don’t you think/ I was like, hell yeah that guy can sing.”

Introducing the dreamy track, Springsteen joked, “She’s, uh, name-checking some guy from New Jersey in there. I’m not sure who.”

He then gave insight into the shared connection between himself and Del Rey, saying they both hold a fondness for Lake Placid, New York.

“She is from New York, and was raised in Lake Placid. Lake Placid, a fabulous little American town where I have spent many a lovely summer evening with my children and my family over the years,” he went on to explain.

“And Lana is simply one of the best songwriters in the country, as we speak. She just creates a world of her own and invites you in. So a big favourite of mine, the lovely Lana Del Rey.”

It’s not the first time the “Dancing in the Dark” rocker has spoken of his appreciation for the singer’s music. Just last month, he played Del Rey’s 2011 debut single “Video Games” on another episode of From My Home To Yours.

“I am a Lana Del Rey fan … This is a singer and song that reminds me of the hot, humid, and sultry summer nights and the girls that went with them.”

In 2017, Bruce Springsteen also showed Variety a folder of his favourite tunes, saying of Lana: “I love her, especially the extended version of her first record.”
