Fresh off a breakout year that included a debut at SXSW and a No. 1 on the NZ Hot 20, Borderline are hitting the road with their Chrysalis EP release tour, set to roll through six cities across New Zealand and Australia this August and September.
Presented by Live Nation, the run kicks off in Tauranga on August 22nd before hitting Wellington, Auckland, Christchurch, and two Aussie dates in Melbourne and Sydney. Tickets go on sale to the general public Thursday, July 24th at 1:00pm local time, with Live Nation pre-sales beginning 12:00pm Wednesday, July 23rd.
The tour celebrates the success of the band’s latest EP, Chrysalis, which features standout tracks “New Romance”, “When It’s Raining”, and “Heartbeat”. The release has already earned spins on triple j and BBC Radio 1, and pushed Borderline further into the international spotlight.
Formed in Auckland by four childhood friends — Ben Glanfield (vocals/guitar/keys), Jackson Boswell (drums/vocals), Matthew McFadden (lead guitar), and Max Harries (bass) — Borderline blend indie rock, pop, and funk grooves into a sound that feels both expansive and intimately homegrown.
Their early singles, including “Spinning” and 2022’s Perfect Movie Scene EP, first turned heads locally, but it was the viral success of “Heartbeat” and their decision to leave school to pursue music full-time that marked the start of their global ascent.
Earlier this year, Borderline became the first AU/NZ signing to powerhouse indie label EMPIRE since its regional launch in 2024 — a move that sees the band join a roster including Shaboozey, Tyga, and G-DRAGON.
