Almost a year to the day after the group first announced their latest tour of Australia, indie-folk outfit Bon Iver have officially cancelled their local visit, with international travel restrictions behind the decision.
First announced in November of 2019, Bon Iver were slated to perform in the country for their first full tour since 2012, kicking things off with a show at Hobart’s Dark Mofo, before making their way to the mainland for a series of shows.
Unfortunately, COVID-19 restrictions soon saw these shows pushed back to March and April of 2021, with a top-billed show at Bluesfest also added to the itinerary. Unfortunately, with Bluesfest yesterday announcing that next year’s event will be “all-Australian” due to the lingering travel restrictions, so too have Bon iver announced the official cancellation of their tour.

“As the holiday season approaches, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our postponed 2020 US & 2021 Australian and New Zealand tour dates,” the group wrote on Facebook.
“We believe that this is the best preventative action we can take against the continued spread of COVID-19 and may be able to help anyone struggling during this continued global event. Refunds can be accessed by original point of purchase. We look forward to safer days ahead when we can play for you.”
Bon Iver most recently performed a series of shows in Australia in 2016 as part of the Vivid LIVE festival in Sydney, which came about four years after their tour of the country in support of 2011’s Grammy award-winning Bon Iver, Bon Iver.
