At least 14 of the artists slated to appear at Bluesfest 2020 have had their headline tours rescheduled, with new 2021 dates announced today.

Over a month on from the sadly-cancelled 2020 event of Bluesfest, organisers have now revealed rescheduled headline dates for 14 of this year’s artists.

While the last-minute cancellation of Bluesfest back in March saw fans undoubtedly devastated at not being able to participate in one of Australia’s most iconic festivals, questions soon arose regarding whether the artists on the bill would still make it down to Australia at some point.

As Bluesfest continued to provide fans with updates regarding ticket refunds and plans for their next event, earlier this month saw organisers reveal that lineup details were “weeks away”, with a massive announcement on the cards.

“For the first time in the history of Bluesfest we intend to simultaneously release a first announcement of 50 artists confirmed to appear at Bluesfest 2021 on April 1st-5th,” a statement from the festival read.

“We hope this helps you plan for next Easter. We are truly grateful for your ongoing patience and support. Our announcement is only a matter of weeks away, and will occur at the same time as the refund process.

Now, this morning has brought with it the news that at least 14 of the acts on the festival’s 2020 bill are set to return to Australia for headline tours, with dates being announced today.

Set to take place around March and April of 2021 (which, of course, is around the time of the next Bluesfest event), headline dates have been announced for artists such as George Benson, Patti Smith and Her Band, The Gipsy Kings, Tori Kelly, Amadou & Mariam, Buffy Sainte-Marie, Cory Henry & The Funk Apostles, Larkin Poe, LP, The Marcus King Band, Morcheeba, The Wailers, Walter Trout, and The War & Treaty.

“The team has been hard at work along with artist’s management to ensure there will be a future for international touring in Australia in 2021, and with the space of a good ten to twelve months we can be confident – we will dance again!” a statement from Bluesfest organisers reads.

Additionally, tour dates for both Allen Stone and the Eagles of Death Metal are on the cards, with specifics set to be announced in the near future.

Of course, while these artists are set to tour around the time of Bluesfest 2021, no specific details have been shared regarding next year’s bill, so it is unclear whether some, or any, of these acts will appear on the 2021 lineup.
