Beyoncé took home the award for Best Country Album at the 2025 Grammy Awards. Cowboy Carter is also up for Album of the Year at this year’s ceremony.
Taylor Swift was on hand to present the category. As she introduced the award, she remembered past winners who’d taken home the trophy in the past, naming everyone from Johnny Cash to Shania Twain. (She won this category 15 years ago for Fearless.) Then, she announced Beyoncé as the winner. Beyoncé looked genuinely shocked as she took the stage.
“I was not expecting this,” she began her acceptance speech. She thanked the country artists who contributed to the album as well as her family; husband Jay-Z and eldest daughter Blue Ivy were both in the audience. “I think genre is a code word to keep us in our place as artists,” she continued. “I just want to encourage people to do what they’re passionate about. Stay persistent.”
Beyoncé took home Best Country Duo/Group Performance with Miley Cyrus for their duet “II Most Wanted.” Along with Album of the Year, she is up for Song of the Year and Record of the Year for “Texas Hold ‘Em.” She is the most-nominated artist in Grammy history, with 99 nominations. She is also the most-awarded in Grammy history as well, though she has never taken home Album of the Year.
On Saturday night, Beyoncé announced that she will be touring in support of Cowboy Carter. She dropped a photo and a video teasing the tour though she has yet to reveal full tour dates quite yet.
