BENEE‘s second album is finally here.

The New Zealand pop star today dropped Ur an Angel I’m Just Particles, featuring singles such as “Cinnamon”, “Off the Rails”,  “Animal”, and “Sad Boiii”.

Ur an Angel I’m Just Particles is BENEE’s first LP since her acclaimed 2020 debut Hey U X.

BENEE described her new album as her most personal work yet: “I’ve poured my whole heart into this project, and I’m so grateful for your patience. I can’t wait for you to step into this world I’ve built.”

In an interview with Rolling Stone AU/NZ about her new album, BENEE also revealed how supporting global pop superstars such as Olivia Rodrigo and Tate McRae really inspired this next chapter of her career.

“Just playing arenas of those sizes [was] so inspiring because I’m like, ‘Oh, my gosh,” she told us. “I want to play an arena.”

As BENEE noted, she previously sold out Spark Arena in her home city. “[T]hat was insane,” she said. “But yeah, arenas are just such a crazy amount of people, and when they all know the songs, it’s really, really awesome.”

BENEE supported Rodrigo on the Australian leg of her world tour last year, and she opened for McRae on her US tour earlier this year.

BENEE will be hoping her second album lands with fans and critics as well as her debut album did.

Hey U X, which featured the platinum hit “Supalonely”, was named to Rolling Stone AU/NZ’s 80 Best New Zealand Albums of the 2020s So Far list. “The whole album’s full of sweet, breezy pop that’s fun and easy to listen to,” the feature noted, adding: “BENEE’s follow-up album is one of the most eagerly anticipated releases in New Zealand music.”
