Ariana Grande has shot straight to the top of this week’s ARIA charts with her eighth studio album, Petal.
The record is the US star’s sixth to reach top spot in Australia following My Everything in 2014, Dangerous Woman in 2016, Sweetener in 2018, Thank U, Next in 2019 and Eternal Sunshine in 2024. Petal also takes the No. 1 spot on the Vinyl Chart.
The chart result comes as Grande prepares to step out of the public eye following her current tour, which the singer addressed on stage earlier this week.
“Sometimes when a story comes out that’s not directly from me, things can get a little blown out of proportion, so I wanted to speak to my fans directly tonight because I love you so much,” Grande said. “The announcement that was made yesterday was not a reactive or impulsive thing. It was something that I have decided. A plan that I had quietly made a long time ago. It was a decision that was made from a thoughtful and empowered place.”
Meanwhile, Australian indie rockers DICE have taken out the No. 1 spot on this week’s Australian Albums Chart with I Thought The Altitude Would Make it Worth The View.
The record has also debuted at No. 13 on the main Albums list. Their first album, 2024’s Midnight Zoo, peaked at No. 27.
Other album debuts this week include PNAU’s AHHCade (No. 33 and No. 3 on the Australian Albums chart), UK singer Erin LeCount’s Pareidolia (No. 29) and Montana duo Buffalo Traffic’s Pictures of You (No. 31).
