The New Zealand-born, Melbourne-raised star made history as the first solo female K-pop artist to debut at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

Rosé is on a roll. For the third consecutive week, the New Zealand-born, Melbourne-raised star holds the top spot on the ARIA Singles Chart with “APT,” giving the BLACKPINK star her longest-running Australian #1 hit.

Rosé’s journey from K-pop sensation to global chart-topper feels like a well-deserved victory lap after she made history as the first solo female K-pop artist to debut at #1 on the ARIA Singles Chart.

“APT.,” released on October 18th, has been a streaming and radio sensation, marking Rosé’s status as a global artist with strong ties to Australia. Interestingly, the track is co-written by none other than Australian pop mastermind Mike Chapman, known for penning hits like Toni Basil’s iconic “Mickey.”

Fans are loving the playful, nostalgic vibe of the song, which draws inspiration from a South Korean drinking game called “Apartment”—an idea Rosé brought into the studio that evolved into the track’s infectious chorus.

This chart success comes ahead of Rosé’s debut solo album Rosie, slated for December 2024, setting the stage for a big finish to the year. “I’ve poured my blood and tears into this album,” Rosé told fans earlier this month when announcing the record

Over on the ARIA Albums Chart, Australian music royalty Paul Kelly lands at #3 with his latest album, Fever Longing Still. The album is the 16-time ARIA Award winner’s 28th studio album as a solo artist or a member of a group. He’s now racked up 13 top 10 albums, hitting #1 with Life Is Fine in 2017, Nature in 2018, Songs From The South 1985-2019 in 2019 and Paul Kelly’s Christmas Train in 2022. Paul was inducted into the ARIA Hall of Fame in 1997.

Paul Kelly’s Fever Longing Still is also leading the way on the ARIA Vinyl Albums Chart, with The Cure joining him in the top slots.

Cairns trio turned social media superstars Chase Atlantic land in the top 50 for the first time with their fourth album, Lost In Heaven.

Coldplay’s current Australian tour is making a mark on the chart as well. Their latest release, Moon Music, jump from #51 to #6. It debuted and peaked at #2 five weeks ago. Their album A Head Full Of Dreams re-enters at #46; it hit #2 in 2015.

John Butler is new at #23 with Still Searching. As part of the John Butler Trio, he had five top 10 albums, including the chart-toppers Sunrise Over Sea in 2004 , Grand National in 2007, April Uprising in 2010 and Home in 2018 (Flesh & Blood stopped at #2 in 2014). The ARIA Award winner’s highest-charted solo album, One Small Step!, reached #23 in 2007.

Whether it’s Rosé’s chart-busting “APT.,” or Paul Kelly’s enduring storytelling, Australian listeners have a lot to celebrate on the ARIA Charts this week.
