Anna Lunoe is back with a new single just in time for her appearance at Mardi Gras on the weekend, and she’s got some serious star power behind it.
Lunoe, hailed as one of Australia’s biggest dance exports, has teamed up with former Spice Girl Melanie C to release their collaborative track “Girl”, which they first previewed during a gig at London superclub Drumsheds late last year.
The anthemic track brings together their synonymous styles with Mel C’s powerhouse vocals and Anna’s high-energy production. Watch the visualiser for the song below:
“People say never to meet your idols but getting to meet Mel backstage at Coachella in 2024 and subsequently become friends was one of my favourite moments of last year!” Lunoe said.
“It’s been so amazing to get to know the wonderful person behind the icon and this song found its home with Mel’s incredible vocal tone and heart!”
Melanie C added: “After meeting at Coachella last year Anna and I have become great friends, we have so much in common, our love of music, being mums and dancing our asses off. I’m super excited to be collaborating on ‘Girl’, it’s a banger!”
Complete with a transcendent bassline and commanding vocals, “Girl” plays to the strengths of both artists and features powereful lyrics: “I got all these things on my mind, and you know it / You got all these things on your mind, and we know it / Cause we got all these things on our mind / Gotta let them go.”
The track comes after a massive 2024 for Lunoe, who released her album Pearl and had huge sets at local festivals including Boiler Room Sydney and Beyond the Valley. She also supported The Weeknd on his 2024 ‘After Hours Til Dawn’ tour.
Lunoe is appearing at the Heaps Gay party as part of Mardi Gras in Sydney on Saturday night, and she’ll also perform at the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix in Melbourne on Sunday, March 16th.
