Amyl and the Sniffers were the big winners at the 2025 ARIA Awards.

The punk rock band claimed four awards, winning Album of the Year, Best Group, Best Rock Album, and Best Cover Art (John Stewart and Thomas Rennie).

Lead nominee Ninajirachi wasn’t to be overshadowed, winning three of the awards she was competing for — Best Solo Artist, Michael Gudinski Breakthrough Artist, and Best Independent Release (I Love My Computer).

Amyl’s big ARIAs night caps another major year for the band, which has been particularly busy over the past couple of weeks.

Amyl have been supporting the one and only AC/DC on their Australian tour.

Ahead of their AC/DC support slot, Amy Taylor caught up with Rolling Stone AU/NZ for an exclusive interview.

“We were all over the moon — we couldn’t believe that they’d offered [it to us],” she said on a brief break during Amyl’s US tour. “It was surreal — they’re a band you don’t even consider as someone that you think you could support ’cause they’re so out of reach. The fact that they did reach out was like, ‘Holy shit, this is crazy, man.’

“I’ve never seen them before. Imagine ‘Highway to Hell’ live, like, holy shit. You know, ‘Rocker’ live, ‘Hells Bells’, all of it. Declan [Mehrtens, guitarist] has seen them three times, so he’s obviously really excited to see them again. That’s the main motive [for doing the tour], really – we get to see nine AC/DC shows!”

Amyl and the Sniffers’ free concert at Melbourne’s Fed Square was shut down before the band took to the stage last Friday (November 14th).

Shortly after the cancellation was confirmed, however, the band took to social media to announce that they had put $5,000 bar tabs at local venues including Last Chance, The Tote, Labour in Vain, Hell’s Kitchen, The Curtin, Cherry Bar and The Old Bar.
