A special 10-year anniversary release of Giddy Up and Big Attraction from Amyl and the Sniffers is out now.
The release arrives via Virgin Music Group and brings together the band’s first two EPs in a remastered 12-inch vinyl and CD edition.
“Those six blistering minutes of music became Giddy Up. An hour later, Amyl and the Sniffers had a name, a Bandcamp upload, and the beginnings of a legacy,” a press release states.
After Giddy Up, the band built momentum through a year of “backyard gigs, playing for friends and partying across Melbourne’s sticky carpet music scene.”
They then released their well-received second EP Big Attraction the following year in 2017.
The new anniversary edition features early tracks such as “I’m Not a Loser” and “Stole My Pushbike” along with live favourites such as “Balaclava Lover Boogie” and “Westgate”.
“We recorded and wrote over the afternoon… we’d never played together before that day… it’s spontaneous, and fun and achievable in that time because to us it sounded more than good and we weren’t perfectionists and it didn’t matter,” frontwoman Amy Taylor says.

The new edition comes in a gatefold sleeve. It features Chris Sutherland’s 2017 band photo, a new essay from Taylor, and early behind-the-scenes images by Jamie Wdziekonski.
When the release was first announced, the band shared archival photos and video clips from their early days on social media (see below). The posts showed early live footage and behind-the-scenes moments from their first years together.
