Amy Shark has released “Beautiful Eyes”, which she describes as her “favourite song she’s ever written.”
Shark penned the single while on the road in 2022 for her mammoth 42-date regional tour. “I had a lot of time alone to think about the past and the future and my life and all the people in it,” the singer-songwriter recalls.
“Beautiful Eyes” is accompanied by an official music video, which you can watch below. The clip was filmed by Hype Republic over two days near Byron Bay.
“Beautiful Eyes” opens a busy period of activity for Shark, with the return of Australian Idol, which Shark is a judge on, coming this January.
2023 was typically busy for the singer-songwriter, too, with the release of several songs and the launch of her own radio show.
Shark’s ‘Feeding Time Radio’ on Apple Music gave listeners a taste of several local artists who recently caught her attention, including Peach PRC, G Flip, and Tkay Maidza.
“I didn’t have to go away and do research for days on the artists or the album. That’s not the show I wanted. I wanted it to be like two musicians just catching up you know, just having a really honest conversation,” the Rolling Stone AU/NZ cover star said about her radio show last year.
“Beautiful Eyes” is Shark’s first original single since “Can I Shower At Yours”, which itself was followed by a stunning cover of Kylie Minogue’s “Can’t Get You Out of My Head” for Mushroom 50.
“It took us a while to figure out how to rework such an iconic song so that it felt ‘Amy’, but I’m so happy with where it landed,” Shark said about her Kylie cover. “For an Australian music company to be celebrating 50 years is such an achievement, and I feel so proud to be a part of the Mushroom family.”
Amy Shark’s “Beautiful Eyes” is out now.
