Close to two weeks after a planned national album tour was supposed to kick off, Allday has unveiled the official video for “Door”, in addition to announced some rescheduled tour dates.
Appearing on his fourth album, Drinking with My Smoking Friends, back in May, “Door” is a unique entry into the Adelaide-born artist’s catalogue, showcasing the sonic growth he’s utilised on his latest record, while still linking it back to his early hip-hop roots.
Paired with deft percussion and tenor sax, the hazy composition sits perfectly within the sort of inspiration that influenced the making of the record. “I was really affected by listening to when Frank Ocean did Blonde,” Allday told Rolling Stone Australia earlier this year.
“It’s such a collage of things and it creates a dreamlike feeling. It doesn’t lack for emotional substance, and it doesn’t lack for different ideas, but you can project onto it what you want to project onto it,” he adds.
Now, he’s unveiled the Hiball-directed video clip for the track, which sees him streaked with blood, performing the track around (and on top of) junked cars as slick transitions move between scenes.
Allday had also punctuated the release of his Drinking with My Smoking Friends album by announcing a national album tour, which was scheduled to kick off at the start of August. Due to current COVID-releated lockdowns across the country, he’s now unveiled a run of rescheduled dates, which will see the tour kick off in late September, with details available below.
