A. R. Rahman, the acclaimed Indian composer behind some of the most iconic Bollywood film scores of the past three decades, is set to return to Australia this October for the first time in seven years.
TEG Live and 77 Live Events announced on August 19th that Rahman will perform in Melbourne at Rod Laver Arena on Thursday, October 17th, and in Sydney at the ICC Theatre on Saturday, October 19th.
Rahman’s impact on music is undeniable, with over 150 million copies of his work sold worldwide. His compositions for films like Roja, Bombay, Dil Se, Lagaan, Slumdog Millionaire, and 127 Hours have not only defined a generation but have also earned him prestigious awards, including two Academy Awards and two Grammy Awards.
Reflecting on his long and storied career, Rahman shared, “From Roja to Rockstar, to Ponniyin Selvan and beyond… The past 30 years have been an incredible musical adventure. I am profoundly grateful for the love and support of my fans, music enthusiasts, friends, and well-wishers that continue to inspire and drive me. Join me this October, where I’ll be accompanied by an extraordinarily talented ensemble of singers and musicians.”
This tour will be an opportunity for fans to experience the breadth of Rahman’s musical journey, from his early groundbreaking work in Indian cinema to his more recent international projects.
The performances will feature a carefully curated setlist that spans his extensive catalogue, accompanied by a top-tier production team dedicated to bringing his music to life on stage.
Tickets will be available through a pre-sale starting on Wednesday, August 21st, at 10am local time and will continue until Friday, August 23rd, at 10am local time.
