9lives has released another big collaboration for 2024.

The rising Aotearoa producer and artist today dropped “ABU DHABI”, featuring British rapper Lancey Foux. Again showcasing 9lives’ multi-genre ability, the track traverses Afrobeats, grime, and drill.

“This one is for the tastemakers and the innovators,” he says. “I made this record with Lancey because he’s a visionary pushing the sound and culture into new avenues. It’s surreal, I’ve been a fan of his for so long now, and it’s come full circle.”

“ABU DHABI” continues the producer’s hot streak of collabs, following link-ups with Trippie Redd, Lil Nas X, Odetari, jnhygs, LAZER DIM 700, and many more.

“ABU DHABI” is 9lives’ fourth release of 2024 already, highlighting his versatility and consistency.

9lives featured in our ‘Future of Music’ series this year.

In conjunction with our global Rolling Stone partners, our editorial team compiled a list of 25 of the most exciting and innovative artists from Australia and Aotearoa, the artists we believe are destined for the very top.

“Did you know that one of the 2020’s most innovative artists hails from humble Hawke’s Bay? Pioneer of the Sigilkore sound, a subgenre that draws on trap, hyperpop, cloud rap, and electronic music, 9lives has caught the attention of US stars like Trippie Redd and Odetari,” we wrote about the producer.

“While the current ‘Big 3’ of rap bitterly bicker about their talent in a very public way, 9lives and the new generation of producers quietly go about their business, dropping endless streaming behemoths. 9lives — otherwise known as Max Jardine — already boasts over six million monthly listeners on Spotify, with that impressive figure growing by the week.

“Dubbed the ‘the Metro Boomin of the underground’, 9lives has tapped into a truly modern sound with Sigilkore: a stirring, messy-in-a-good-way, boundless genre-agnostic style.”

9lives’ “ABU DHABI” (ft. Lancey Foux) is out now.
