5 Seconds of Summer have decided to treat fans with the unexpected release of a live album.

The Feeling of Falling Upwards – Live from The Royal Albert Hall will bring the titular London performance to fans who weren’t at the show in 2022. “Playing this show for all of you was indescribable and we’re thrilled you can all relive this moment with us over and over again,” the band wrote on social media today.

And there’s a good reason 5SOS chose that particular show to release as a live album: the band used to busk outside the world-famous Royal Albert Hall when they first moved to the UK to write their first album a decade ago.

The 2022 show included reimagined versions of tracks from their entire discography, including brand-new cuts from their fifth studio album 5SOS5, accompanied by a 12-piece string orchestra and a 12-member gospel choir to really bring them to life.

“”The Feeling of Falling Upwards” is simply supposed to describe to you the feeling that we have experienced together, the feeling of taking a leap of faith on such a fickle thing like music,” drummer Ashton Irwin explained on stage at the venue, “And sharing this experience together year after year, season after season of our lives.”

In other 5SOS news, the band have also announced a world tour for this year. “The 5 Seconds of Summer Show” will hit South America, North America, Europe and the UK between July and October. Tour information can be found via the band’s official website.

5SOS’s The Feeling of Falling Upwards – Live from The Royal Albert Hall is available digitally on April 14th (pre-save/pre-order here). The album will be available on physical formats on July 14th.
