This morning the final shortlist nominations for the 2016 ARIAs was announced, with EDM star Flume leading the field with eleven nods, three of which he’s already won at the pre-ceremony Fine Art & Artisan Awards that were presenting today.
Not far behind is our January cover-story subject Troye Sivan, who is in the running for seven awards, including album of the year, where he’ll duke it out with plunderphonic comeback kings The Avalanches and globe-trotting pop star Sia — both of which have a picked up a total of six nominations — and RUFUS, who are in line for five awards, equal to that of local hip-hop artist Illy.
On the guitar side of things there’s Rolling Stone cover-story stars Violent Soho who equal fellow axe-wielders King Gizzard and the Lizard Wizard with five nominations. The two going head-to-head in several categories, including the coveted Best Group prize.
