Last night, The Kid LAROI delivered a raw, intimate performance at Nova’s Red Room. Held at Selina’s in Sydney’s Coogee Bay Hotel — home to iconic performances from music heavyweights like INXS to Foo Fighters — the evening gave fans a rare glimpse of the Gadigal-born artist in a stripped-back setting.
LAROI treated the crowd to “a little bit of a different show”, stripping back his chart-topping hits and taking the “opportunity to have some fun” with fans.
The audience, which included familiar faces like Brooke Blurton, and Nova hosts Ryan “Fitzy” Fitzgerald and Kate Ritchie, watched as the young star showcased his softer side.
Opening with his recent track “Baby I’m Back,” LAROI set the tone for the night, sprinkling the performance with anecdotes and crowd interactions. Between tracks like “Girls,” “Nights Like This,” “Heaven,” and the emotional “Where Does Your Spirit Go?” he spoke candidly with fans and even handed out a few ‘friends and family’ tickets to his upcoming Sydney show.
One of the highlights came when he performed “Stay,” his global hit with Justin Bieber. Before launching into the song, LAROI asked, “Are there any Justin Bieber fans in the crowd?” as cheers erupted. Reflecting on the track, LAROI told the crowd it was a pleasure to write the track with Justin, and he still like the song after three or four years, “which is surprising.”
LAROI closed the set with “Love Again” from his 2023 debut album The First Time. The audience sang along to every lyric, a fitting end to an evening that felt like a celebration of both his journey and his connection to fans.
This performance comes ahead of a significant moment in LAROI’s career: the 2024 ARIA Awards, where he’ll take the stage as a performer and is nominated in four major categories, including Best Solo Artist and Song of the Year for “Nights Like This.” To date, The Kid LAROI has won three ARIA Awards from his 14 previous nominations
Held at Sydney’s Hordern Pavilion on November 20th, the awards will see LAROI perform alongside some of the country’s biggest names, including CYRIL, 3%, Jessica Mauboy, Julian Hamilton from The Presets, Troy Cassar-Daley, Amy Shark, Angie McMahon, and Teen Jesus and The Jean Teasers. 2024 ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Missy Higgins will also appear on the night.
LAROI is also in the middle of his rescheduled Australian tour, with dates spanning the country. Supported by Quavo and Onefour, the tour includes stops in Gold Coast, Brisbane, Perth, and Melbourne, culminating in two shows at Melbourne’s Rod Laver Arena.
