5GTR’s Bronte Ellard’s Top Community Radio Picks
The Cherry Daisies are an incredible folk group in Adelaide, with roots from my hometown of Mount Gambier. It was difficult to pick a track, but “Autumn” showcases the incredible vocals of Chelsea Turner and is my personal favourite. A moody tune to put on when things are just a little bit heavy.
They’ve been killing it around SA and have an upcoming single launch next month for “kill you with kindness”.
Montaigne — “best case scenario”
Best known for their collaboration with the Hilltop Hoods, I’ve been a huge fan of Montaigne for quite some time. “best case scenario” shows–off Montaigne in their full glory. The song is clever and fun but written in that classic story telling style that Montaigne delivers every time. A truly underrated artist.

The Tullamarines — “Running on Empty”
Always in rotation on my local radio program, this song has gotten me through some sad times lately. It’s done in that happy ironic way, but the song is about that universal feeling when stuff just isn’t going well. We have all been there once or twice! Love The Tullamarines and love that they are getting noticed, insanely good!
LILLI — “He’s Just Not Into You”
Another artist who hails from Mount Gambier, LILLI has this electric sound that is beyond her years. Fantastic voice and a real flair for themes within her releases. This song isn’t an angry ballad; it’s a song that shares the simple reality that most of us end up going through at some stage. Bubblegum–pop at its best; I cannot wait to see what the future holds for LILLI.
Sexy As Shit — “Cowboy Collins”
This is the latest release for Sexy as Shit by the genius that is Micheal Collins and recently new to the band Thomas Wilson, both of whom go so hard on this new song.
It’s very cheek-in-tongue lyrics and is guaranteed to make you move. “Cowboy Collins” serves as an introduction to the sheer magic of this duo, if you like electronic acts like Viagra Boys and Confidence Man you will adore Sexy as Shit, another fantastic Berrin/Mount Gambier grown band.
