Olivia Rodrigo has spent her career making pop history, dropping three of this century’s best albums. She made her mark with her 2021 instant-classic debut Sour, and the even-better 2023 follow-up Guts. But with her brilliant new album, You Seem Pretty Sad For a Girl So In Love, she proves what everybody already knew: Olivia’s an artist with her own voice, not just here to stay, but already hitting the level of the all-time greats. She’s a master of every move whether she’s serving pop-punk bangers or piano-ballad weepers. And she’s already sitting on top of a classic songbook at 23.

So let’s celebrate the music Olivia Rodrigo has made so far: a deep dive into every single song in her amazing catalog. Obviously, this list doesn’t cover High School Musical—that would be a whole other list. (“All I Want” is arguably a special case.) Also, no Bizaardvark, with all due respect to “Blobfish” and “Comeback Song.” It’s got the songs from all three of her albums, with her soundtrack tunes, bonus tracks, cover versions (but only the ones she’s officially released), loosies, and B-sides.

Remember, every fan’s list would be different — that’s the point. The competition for the top is fierce, but this whole list is stacked with bangers from top to bottom. So raise a glass to Olivia, crank up the music, sense the undertones, and sing along loud. Hey, it really is brutal out here.

‘Drivers License’

Olivia seemingly blew in out of nowhere — well, out of High School Musical — to hit Number One with her instant-classic debut single, “Driver’s License.” “Drivers License” is one of those rare songs that you hear the first time and within a minute, you know this is a hit you’ll keep singing forever. Olivia sings about driving past her ex’s house like nobody else in history has ever done this before. An absolute classic, now and forever.Best line: “Guess you didn’t mean what you wrote in that song about me / Because you said ‘forever,’ now I drive alone past your street.”

‘Deja Vu’

An impossible battle for Number One — any of the top few songs could make a claim for this crown. But there’s no denying “Deja Vu.” This was the hit that confirmed Olivia as not just a bright young songwriter, but a whole new pop-queen paradigm, with a rock & roll heart. She and Dan Nigro plot every genius second of this down to the last micro-detail. Those Clash guitars. Those U2 drums. So many scream-out-loud punch lines. And the utterly insane way it’s about Olivia and her ex fighting over which one was the first to get into Billy Joel. What a thrill to be in the crowd at Madison Square Garden for the night when Billy and Olivia finally sang this together. (They also sang “Uptown Girl,” of course.) “Deja Vu” stands as one of this century’s weirdest, smartest, and just-plain-best pop classics.Best line: “Play your piano, but she doesn’t know/I was the one who taught YOU Billy Joel!/A different girl now, but there’s nothing new/I know you get deja vu.”
