Made in response to a mental health crisis and the loss of many close friends, the new Void of Vision single, “Blood for Blood”, is a must-listen.
Released from the Melbourne metalcore band’s forthcoming album What I’ll Leave Behind, “Blood for Blood” is a return to their heavier roots, which is sure to leave fans itching for the full record.
“I entered a phase viewing music as a literal bloodsport,” says Void of Vision member Jack Bergin on the track’s creation. “We were losing close friends to suicide, dealing with our own mental health struggles internally, and losing support from those around us all as I was completely off the map dealing with my own health issues.”
“Blood for Blood” is a personal reflection on the harsh reality of life from Void of Vision, offering a heartfelt message on how tough things can get away from music. “Everything was an uphill battle and I had to tackle it while navigating through the criticism and unwanted feedback from an over-privileged ‘fanbase’ who seem to care more about the drama than they ever did about the music alone,” adds Bergin.
“The modern-day pressures of sustaining a career in music while honouring our creative processes and maintaining our well-being practices are becoming harder and harder as how we consume art continuously shifts, but I really don’t think people who DON’T create will ever understand that. As long as the disconnect exists I will continue to struggle to relate or sympathise for those who couldn’t care less, and I’m exhausted trying to.”
Void of Vision’s new album is ten tracks long, with “Blood for Blood” being the third release of the rollout. Their fans can also be excited for live shows happening once the album is released, with the band set to join Parkway Drive on their 20th anniversary national tour, before flying abroad to support The Ghost Inside on their North American tour at the end of the year.
They also have their own Melbourne headline show on Sunday, September 15th at The Bergy Bandroom (more information here).
Void of Vision’s “Blood for Blood” is out now. What I’ll Leave Behind is out September 20th via UNFD (pre-save/pre-order here).
