Rolling Stone AU/NZ: Excited to have you in Australia! What are you most looking forward to about these shows?

Still Woozy: Thank you! Looking forward to the crowds. Last time they were so fun… and the food.

Who’s playing with you on-stage?

Three friends of mine. My sister-in-law Tani Kahn on bass guitar and synth, Caleb Buchanan on bass guitar and synth, and Harry Terrell holding it down on the drums.

Do you have any favourite Australian artists?

Got to be Tame Impala. He’s one of the people who showed me you should just do everything yourself.

What’s on your list to check out if you get some downtime on the tour?

I love walking in a new place. I usually just choose a spot on the map and point myself in that direction and walk for a couple hours.

How do you usually approach making music? What comes first, and what shapes the rest of the song?

I usually look to find a sound that catches my ear [and] in someway build off of that. The song usually shows you where it wants to go after that.

What inspired your latest album Loveseat?

It’s an ode to the many relationships in my life that make it meaningful.

“Lemon” is one of my favourites from the new album. How did that one come about?

Thank you! I was doing sessions in Portland with Ian Fitchuk and Gus Berry at the time and we had spent a couple days on “Rid of Me”, which is pretty downtempo, and I wanted to try something different. We made this idea first thing, pretty instantaneously. So fun.

Which songs from the new record have been your favourite to play live?

Maybe “Rid of Me” because it’s so different than everything else I’ve done. It’s a nice change of pace in the set. It’s the one time for me to chill, I’m usually running around trying to catch my breath haha.

Describe the vibe of a Still Woozy show in three words.

Informal, spontaneous, energetic

If you could pick your dream summer festival lineup, who’s on it?

Jimi Hendrix, Johnny Cash, Toots and the Maytals, Bob Marley, and Hank Williams to name a few.
