Singer-Songwriter Lyric Shares Her Gold Coast Must-Visit Spots
Explore the best local Gold Coast experiences with singer-songwriter Lyric
In Partnership with Gold Coast Experience Exchange
Take a second to think of the Gold Coast. What comes to mind? Maybe it’s long summer days by the ocean, catching waves, or theme parks from childhood road trips. But for many locals, it’s a place of memories and personal milestones.
For 21-year-old singer-songwriter and producer Lyric, the city has helped shape her career from the beginning. From playing for spare change at the Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets to headlining her own shows, the Gold Coast has been a big part of her journey in music. Now, as part of the Gold Coast Experience Exchange, she’s sharing her personal take on the places that mean the most to her, revealing a side of the city that goes beyond the familiar.
“My favourite beach on the Gold Coast would definitely have to be Broadbeach,” she says. “It’s close to all the restaurants on Victoria Avenue and Kurrawa Park, and it’s also close enough to the city that you still get to see that famous city skyline beach view.”

“It’s also where I shot the cover photo for my song ‘Gravity’ too, so maybe I’m a little bit biased.” That track went viral on TikTok, getting over 450,000 streams, making it a moment of success forever tied to the place she loves.
For Lyric, Surfers Paradise Beachfront Markets holds an even deeper connection. “It has the cutest stores with lots of fun little trinkets, and plenty of sweet treats (I always buy too many when I go),” she explains.
“I spent a lot of time here growing up because my mum used to run these markets, and so I’d often volunteer and get to know the wonderful stall holders. [The markets] were actually the first place I ever busked and performed live in front of people, right under the Surfers Paradise sign.”

The Gold Coast is full of places that are nostalgic for Lyric, including the shopping centre Pacific Fair. “It easily has the best shopping on the Gold Coast. Pacific Fair is where I come whenever I need a new outfit, a birthday present for someone, absolutely anything.”
“It’s also another place that I used to busk at when I was starting out in music, in the beautiful open-air outdoor space they have in the middle of the mall, so that’s another reason why it has a special place in my heart,” she says.”
Surprisingly, Lyric’s next recommendation isn’t a music venue, it’s Topgolf, the golf simulation theme park that feels like you’re playing a real life video game. “I’m not a sporty person, but I love this place. It’s perfect for hanging with friends, birthday parties and celebrations,” she says.

“You don’t even need to be good at golf,” she reassures. “They had a new game mode available when my sister and I went, where angry birds appear on your screen and you have to knock them down on the course.”
Her most cherished memories, though, are at Home of the Arts (HOTA), a creative and cultural hub that has been part of her journey since the beginning. “HOTA is such a special spot on the Gold Coast. First of all, it has this amazing lake that overlooks the city, which is perfect for a picnic with the whole family. Every Sunday morning there are incredible farmers markets with some of the best food you could ever imagine.”
“I had my first ever headline show at the HOTA Basement, and there are so many great emerging acts that play there throughout the year. Plus, there’s also the magnificent outdoor stage, which I’ve seen some of my favourite concerts of all time at.”

Lyric’s recommendations prove there’s so much more to the Gold Coast than people realise, and the best way to experience it is through the people who’ve grown up there.
