SaxONLY offered stunning acoustic renditions of a trio of tracks from his most recent EP for his Rolling Stone AU/NZ ‘In My Room’ session.
Hailing from the humble regional town of Corowa, the rising rapper exploded into wider recognition last year with his debut EP, Social Introvert, a record that captured his year-long journey of self-discovery (listen below). For a musician from a small town, still in his teens, Social Introvert became SaxONLY’s way of working out his identity as a budding artist.
He started working towards his debut EP in late 2023.
“I decided to move back home so I could focus all my attention on my music,” he explains. “From then on, I was writing and recording every day. I’ve always been hung up on the title Social Introvert because I knew it would allow me to write how I feel in the moment, without being tied down to one feeling or perspective.
According to SaxONLY, “Some tracks have a more open, outgoing vibe, while others feel more thoughtful and moody. With no expectations for how the EP should sound, everything naturally fell into place.”
For his ‘In My Room’ session, he performed three EP cuts – “Vroom”, Feel No More”, and “Fake People”, with the latter track previously breaking out in a major way on streaming, racking up over 400,000 streams on Spotify alone. He went acoustic for his session, reducing the heat of his stylish rap-pop sound ever so slightly. (Whisper it, but there’s a touch of LAROI about SaxONLY’s tracks.)

Moving forward, he’s expecting more big things to come his way in 2025 and beyond.
“This is just the beginning. I’ve been writing and recording music since I was 15, so this project has been about finding my sound. And already I’m playing with new styles – I can’t wait to see where they take me next,” he reflects on his debut EP, looking towards the future with relish.
