Melbourne’s Lithe is one of those artists who falls under the category of artists you definitely should know, but may have never heard of.

While you may not know the name (or the face) just yet, Lithe has been busy touring the country with internationals like Lil Tjay and 070 Shake.

Choosing to keep an intriguingly low profile, Lithe has stayed proudly independent, becoming one of the biggest under-the-radar artists in Australia in the process.

His latest song, “For You”, a collaboration with OVO’s Roy Woods, proves his talent. He’s sharp on the mic, melodically aware, and knows how to play to his strengths without ever doing more than he needs to.

It’s a common theme amongst Lithe releases: he always leaves you wanting a little bit more, but the anonymity adds an extra layer of intrigue to the already mysterious aesthetic that surrounds him.

Marking his fifth release so far of a remarkable first half of 2024, Lithe is quickly growing into an extremely polished, un-ignorable artist in Australia’s constantly evolving hip hop and R&B landscape.

Numbers are not the benchmark for success in hip hop, but upon seeing the success Lithe has created for himself despite being largely unknown, it’s more effort to not pay attention than to give him credibility.

Still unsigned, most of his music does incredibly impressive numbers, and he’s already garnered a passionate fanbase that he caters to with every release.

Despite Lithe already having countless high-quality singles in his rich discography such as “Pessimist”, “Lots of Love”, or “Hold Out” (to name just a few), “For You” is a great introduction to his style if you’re still unfamiliar.

Aside from Lithe fans, ears are attracted to Woods on this song, but it’s Lithe’s presence that keeps you around. Combining an intriguing dark, futuristic R&B/trap mix in most of his music, Woods complements Lithe well, but more importantly it shows that Lithe is more than capable of keeping up with extremely established artists. (Let’s not forget that Woods is an OVO signee and has songs with the likes of Drake, Coi Leray, and Wiz Khalifa.)

Lithe’s “For You” ft. Roy Woods is out now.
