How Lee Mvtthews Created an Epic DnB Track Using the New Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra

Thanks to Spark NZ, Samsung and a crew of Kiwi creatives, the Galaxy S25 Ultra just made its debut as the most unexpected instrument in music

In Partnership with Spark NZ and Samsung

Some songs come from hours in the studio. But this one started with the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. Lee Mvtthews, the New Zealand-based drum & bass duo, have always been big on experimenting with sound. And in their latest project, they took things to another level entirely.

Partnering with Spark NZ and Samsung, the pair have created an exclusive new drum & bass track using the new Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra and a little help from their mates (and fans).

It’s a world-first collaboration that has proved just how creative you can get with the device.

They kicked off the challenge by sending the Galaxy S25 Ultra to four of their favourite Kiwi creators, asking them to film short videos going about their day. The duo then combed through the footage to find key sounds that could form the track. From vocal fragments, to footsteps and even the use of homeware tools, the duo had enough to build the foundation of an all-new drum and bass track using the Galaxy S25 Ultra.

The Galaxy S25 Ultra’s Audio Eraser feature was the key element for the song’s creation. An industry-first innovation, it allowed Lee Mvtthews to differentiate, categorise and remove unwanted sounds from the video clips submitted by the kiwi creators. Random city traffic, heavy winds, background chatter and even talking could all be erased, leaving them cleaner audio to sample, shape and turn into something new.

But they didn’t stop there. Premiering the track at an exclusive one-night-only event on March 20, Lee Mvtthews used the crowd to create a one of a kind video to accompany the track.

Throughout the venue, Galaxy S25 Ultra devices were stationed for guests to play with and each device highlighted a different and unique feature. Placing creative power in the hands of fans, guests used features like Nightography, Slow Motion, Dual Recording and Zoom, to capture behind-the-scenes moments, live reactions and candid footage, which was then stitched together to create the official video.

Sure, it’s a cool challenge for one of New Zealand’s best duos. But more than that, it’s a reminder that the tools to create are already in your hands. The barrier to entry for creatives has never been lower with a phone that lets you erase sound, shape it, shoot it and share it all in one place.
