Matthew Victor Kopp is softly spoken. He has a calm, quietly confident energy. Which is surprising, considering he came up through the hardcore and electronic music scene. But as the creative force behind Running Touch, deep introspection is part of Kopp’s magic.
The Melbourne-based music producer, songwriter, and artist has spent years blending his hardcore roots with electronic beats to craft a truly unique sound. In fact, when he started his solo project, it didn’t take long for him to realise that his creative vision couldn’t be confined to a single genre.
“Being associated with multiple genres is important to me, because I think it allows me to learn how to share a story to different people from those different genres. It’s really special being able to tap into this,” he says.
In the second episode of our ‘Sound Is Everything’ series in partnership with the Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro, Running Touch takes us on a journey through his creative process as he prepares to release a new single that is set to form an entirely new genre. His creative process is deeply influenced by the world around him, particularly the natural environment.
“Being in nature allows me to connect to my creativity,” he explains. “Through the space that’s created there comes a burst of ideas. Whether it’s the sound of the ocean, the sound of nature, or tempo changes in the music I’m listening to, it all funnels through into the creative process.”
When he’s not out in the natural world, Running Touch is in the studio making music. His routine is a constant balance between mental rest and productivity. “I’ll produce for four hours, and then I’ll try walking again, and then do practice again, and just try to restart that cycle,” he says.
Though he finds inspiration in nature, his ability to push the boundaries of music has a lot to do with his embrace of new technology. While many artists fear the rise of artificial intelligence and technology disrupting the music industry, he embraces it. “I love the idea of AI being introduced and integrated into music. I am such a big advocate of using every single tool you have, because that’s what enhances your creativity.”
The Samsung Galaxy Buds3 Pro are one of those tools. They offer the high-quality sound and adaptability that Running Touch needs to bring his ideas to life. “Sound quality is key,” he emphasises. “As a producer, I work into a mix bus and a master chain, so I need that near-finished quality throughout the whole time I’m working.”
The Galaxy Buds3 Pro, with their Adaptive Noise Control and EQ powered by Galaxy AI, provide the clarity and precision necessary for him to fully immerse himself in his work.
One of the standout features of the Galaxy Buds3 Pro is their ability to deliver sound in 24-bit high resolution. This opens up the door for Kopp to connect with his audience on a deeper level, with sound quality that conveys deep bass, rich midtones and crisp high notes. “I think it’s special because people are getting to hear the song as I intended to make it,” he says. “It feels more personal, more real.”
For Kopp, music is everything. And he wants to share it with the world. “Sound has given me a different perspective on life and a greater appreciation for art as a whole,” he says. “It’s my everything because it’s in my everyday life. It saturates everything I do. I wake up, I listen to music, and I make music – it’s my job.”
The Galaxy Buds3 Pro, with their advanced features and cutting-edge design, are a perfect fit for an artist who is constantly evolving and challenging himself to explore new sounds.
