Hailing from Victoria’s iconic Great Ocean Road, Flynn Gurry is carving his name into Australia’s folk-pop landscape with his shimmering new single, “Endless Feeling”.
Drawing on personal experiences and crafted with infectious energy, the song is an invitation to ride the emotional highs of Gurry’s journey, both musical and personal.
A seamless blend of acoustic guitar, folk roots, and driving pop rhythms, “Endless Feeling” captures the essence of a sun-soaked summer day. Gurry’s smooth yet grounded vocals bring life to a sound reminiscent of Kim Churchill and John Butler but with his own unique twist. The song pulses with an irresistible effervescence, effortlessly showcasing Gurry’s talent for crafting melodies that feel both intimate and expansive.
“The writing of this track was inspired by my travels backpacking throughout Europe in the summer of 2023,” Gurry shares. “It was my first time being outside of Australia and experiencing new cultures, languages, and being alone – everything that comes along with solo backpacking. I was feeling super inspired to try and capture with words all the experiences I was having.”
Working alongside producer Brad Arthur, Gurry leaned on the journal he kept during his travels to transform raw memories into a fully realised sonic experience. “That little blue journal is where a lot of the song came from,” he reveals.
Arthur, with whom Gurry first collaborated in the Scottish Highlands, brought a unique touch to the production. “This is my third release having Brad produce, and it really feels like we are starting to find our rhythm,” says Gurry. Influenced by the likes of Dermot Kennedy and Jeremy Loops, Gurry’s new sonic direction pairs folk-pop vibes with vibrant production, striking a balance between heartfelt storytelling and modern accessibility.
Beyond the studio, Gurry has been steadily building his reputation as a must-watch live performer. From busking on Melbourne’s streets to gracing stages alongside Australian music legends like Ian Moss, Pierce Brothers, Ash Grunwald, and King Stingray, his rise has been nothing short of meteoric.
A few short months ago, Gurry cemented his place in the national spotlight by winning the coveted triple j Unearthed One Night Stand competition, flying out from Copenhagen to perform to a sold-out crowd in his home town of Warrnambool alongside G Flip, Ruel, What So Not, Thelma Plum, Sycco, and DICE.
“I got into music because of my love for it, and just being a genuine fan,” shares Gurry. “Then once I had picked up a guitar and eventually started playing live, it completely changed everything, and it really just felt like the right thing to do. I haven’t looked back since.”
Currently on tour supporting The Dreggs and having just opened for Californian troubadour Matt Hansen’s Australian dates, Gurry’s momentum shows no signs of slowing down.
With “Endless Feeling” out now, he’s set to carry his wave of success into 2025 under the guidance of Woolstore Music, the newly-founded label and management arm of the Pierce Brothers. “We’re thrilled to start this management journey with Flynn,” shares Jack Pierce. “He is an absolute powerhouse on stage, and his songwriting is off the charts. We can’t wait to see where he goes next!”
“I am really excited to be releasing ‘Endless Feeling’,” Gurry concludes. “Sonically it feels like a sound I haven’t released before so I am really excited to see how it will be received. This year has also been quite monumental with so many exciting opportunities so to be finishing off the year with this release feels awesome.”
