After a series of high-energy releases, CLYPSO shakes things up with her latest single, “YOUR PART IN MY STORY IS OVER”.
Despite its theme of everyday breakup woes, she manages to infuse the track with unexpected blissfulness. With a bouncy melody and vocals that blend regret with a stinging nonchalance, she sings, “I can’t believe this,” reminding us that “all that glitters isn’t gold now is it.”
The fun song captures the full spectrum of bittersweet emotions, as CLYPSO explains: “‘YOUR PART IN MY STORY IS OVER’ is about making peace with the goodbyes and breakups in life.
“Acknowledging every season has a reason and every ending is a beginning. I needed to write a song that could embody that emotion of bittersweet endings and this chorus musically and vocally drips like honey but lyrically stings.”
Arriving with stylish cover artwork evoking 70’s disco, the single promises enough shimmering disco balls to distract from heartbreak and get you in the party mood.
Joining previous singles “HOLLER” and “I’VE SEEN THE LIGHT”, the track will be featured on the upcoming EP, LIGHTS OUT, set to release on May 23rd. And her new single is a perfect taste of what to expect from the EP, promising a mix of dark moments and joyous energy across various genres, from ecstatic club beats to 80s synthpop, electronica, disco, and sunny dancehall.
The Sydney-based vocalist, producer, singer-songwriter, and instrumentalist first came onto the scene with the release of her debut EP, Cameo, in 2019.
In addition to her solo work, CLYPSO has collaborated with big names such as The Avalanches, Jamie xx, Neneh Cherry, Kwame, and others.
On the live front, she has also opened for the likes of Channel Tres, Groove Armada, POND and PNAU, performing festival sets at Listen Out, Meredith Festival, Spilt Milk, Lost Paradise and Festival of the Sun.
