Here’s what else you might have missed last week:

Alien Nosejob – “Family Dinner”

Veteran Geelong musician Jake Robertson has announced Forced Communal Existence, a new compilation of 23 rare and out-of-print Alien Nosejob tracks, out in June. longside the news, he’s released two songs from the project: the abrasive opening track “Family Dinner” and the jangly closing track “S-O-S ’75”.

Evie Irie – “Mercedes Medicated”

Originally from the Central Coast and now based in Sydney, Evie Irie is back with her second single of the year. The thrashy pop blast of “Mercedes Medicated” follows “Alter Ego”, leaning into late nights, lost friends, and not caring what anyone thinks.

Zafty – “Am I? (Tell Me)”

Nigerian-born and Melbourne-based rapper Zafty is back with new single “Am I? (Tell Me)” – a hungry, high-energy track about chasing light and lifting up your crew. “Where the sun at? I’m gon’ find a ray,” he spits, sounding dead-set on breaking through.

The Smith Street Band – “This is It”

The Smith Street Band return with “This is It”, the first single from their forthcoming seventh album. Lead singer Wil Wagner explains, “’This is It’ is a song about coming to terms with who you are, what you’ve done and what you’re doing next.”

DICE – “Alter Ego”

Western Australia’s DICE have returned with the punchy new single “Alter Ego”. The release comes as the band kick off a huge run of tour dates across Australia, the UK, and Europe from April through May, along with the announcement of a major U.S. tour in October.

“Alter Ego” follows their ARIA-charting debut album Midnight Zoo, and explores the idea of reckoning with your past and finding your true self.

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers – “Balcony” 

Teen Jesus and the Jean Teasers crash back in with “Balcony”, their first single of the year. Described by the band as “a loving ode to being chaos gremlins at the bar,” “Balcony” is an indie-rock banger produced by Grammy-winning Catherine Marks (known for her work with boygenius, Wolf Alice, and Foals).
