Asha Jefferies has celebrated the release of her second studio album Desire Is An Angel with a stripped-back Rolling Stone AU/NZ In My Room session.
Released on October 2nd via Nettwerk, the Brisbane singer-songwriter’s new record marks an exciting new chapter, blending intimate, introspective songwriting with expansive indie rock and folk-pop sounds. Co-produced by Jefferies and Tom Iansek (Big Scary, #1 Dads), Desire Is An Angel explores themes of longing, vulnerability, self-discovery and the complexities of wanting something — and learning to embrace those desires.
The album follows her acclaimed 2024 debut, Ego Ride, which saw Jefferies take her music overseas, touring the UK, Europe and the US, and share stages with the likes of Courtney Barnett, Soccer Mommy and Hana Vu.
Featuring previously released singles “Backwards Baby”, “Art of Suggestion”, “Cool Guy”, and “What the Hell”, the new record showcases a more confident and adventurous side of Jefferies, while retaining the emotional honesty that has become central to her songwriting.
Jefferies will take the album on the road next month, with headline shows scheduled for Brisbane, Castlemaine, Melbourne and Sydney throughout November. See here for details.
