Amalia’s giving us a glimpse of what’s next with a stunning ‘In My Room’ session for Rolling Stone AU/NZ.

After dropping recent tracks like “Electric Rush”, “Silly Cliche”, and “I Swear It Was Love”, all of which showed off her sweet vocals and heartfelt songwriting, her next single’s bound to be just as memorable.

In the session, she performed “I Swear It Was Love” and a stripped-back version of “Look Alive” (coming your way on Valentine’s Day) with her guitarist and collaborator Julian Schweitzer, which you can watch above.

Amalia has been one to watch in the Melbourne music scene for some time now. Describing her sound as “a dash of nostalgic rock and a sprinkle of eclectic pop… served in vintage crystal,” she brings a blend of the old and the new, drawing inspiration from artists like Stevie Nicks, Lana Del Rey, Meg Mac, and Joni Mitchell.

Amalia first hit the scene with “Electric Rush” back in May, a track about those emotional breakthroughs and pivotal life moments. “Whether it be love, heartbreak or freedom, we all have experienced that ‘rush’ as we embark on testing the waters, stretching the rules and taking a chance,” she said of the track.

On “Silly Cliche”: “Musically, ‘Silly Cliche’ whisks you back to the 70s, blending swirling psychedelia with modern pop allure. It’s a song about the overwhelming feelings of the early stages of a relationship and the hope the feeling never fades.”

The tracks were recorded, produced, and mixed by Schweitzer at Red Door Sounds in Melbourne, marking the first taste of nearly two albums’ worth of music they’ve crafted together in the past year. With nods to legends like Joni Mitchell and Janis Joplin, Amalia’s sound mixes nostalgia with modern production.

“I am a huge lover of writing from scratch in the studio and letting songs come to life through experimenting with sounds,” she said. “We all take inspiration from the classics, so I wanted to make a song that paid homage to the artists that came before me.”

Amalia’s “Look Alive” is out February 14th.
