Nine years and three albums into their career, Spacey Jane tick every box — with the exception of one.
A fine live outfit with a legion of fans, they have ongoing support from triple j and an Australian Number One album. Heck, they even look great. All that’s missing is the trans-Atlantic success story. Through no fault of their own, the pandemic derailed earlier plans for world domination. If That Makes Sense is a third chance.
Recorded in LA during a year off from touring, the album is both introspective and outward-facing. Humanity, on a grand scale. Lead single “All the Noise” is a deliberate assault by guitars, layered to perfection, as Caleb Harper laments a breakup and his own shortcomings.
With guitars swinging and hearts open, If That Makes Sense is an exploration of love, loss, learning, and life. It’s time the rest of the world came along for the ride.
