Old Mervs Serve Up Serviceable Indie-Rock on Debut Album

The self-titled LP from from the Perth duo of Dave House and Henry Carrington-Jones is built for festivals – but makes little impact

Old Mervs

Iffy band name aside, the debut album from the Perth duo of Dave House (guitar and lead vocals) and Henry Carrington-Jones (drums, backing vocals) is serviceable, if unremarkable, indie-rock aimed at the triple j crowd.

“See You Again” is an early highlight, and although many of these tracks will go down a treat at summer festivals, a sense of tedium sets in by the time the final track rolls around.
