Kita Alexander Rises to the Occasion on Debut Album

Confident, breezy pop and guests including Morgan Evans shine on the Byron Bay singer-songwriter’s debut

As an artist anointed by Rolling Stone AU/NZ as “one to watch” in 2024, Kita Alexander carries the weight of expectation; debut LP Young in Love is her confident response to the pressure.

The Byron Bay native invites us in for an exploration of life, love and the challenge of raising a kid in this weird world, all of it told over breezy pop production.

Spanning ten tracks, Kita’s LP lassos the talents of country star Morgan Evans (“Date Night”) and British indie artist Laurel on “All Night”, a pretty-as-a-picture pop nugget.

Highlights include the single “Best You Ever Had” and “Butterflies”, which is so radio-friendly it’d be a tragedy for it not to get commercial radio play.

As accomplished as it is in places, Young in Love is all polish, no spit.
