Talk to Me is expanding into uncharted territory with an immersive 3D spinoff series designed exclusively for Meta headsets.

Danny and Michael Philippou, the creative minds behind the breakout supernatural thriller, are venturing into extended reality storytelling with a six-episode series that promises to redefine horror entertainment, as per Variety.

Meta and XRTV have collaborated on the currently-untitled project, which transports viewers directly into the terrifying universe established by the original film.

The series follows a group of young travellers pursuing the ultimate party experience on a European island, only to discover the Hand – a supernatural catalyst described as deadlier than any drug. The production team has characterised the show as “Euphoria with possession.”

The technological innovation behind this project represents a significant leap forward in immersive entertainment. Shot entirely in 3D and utilising cutting-edge mixed reality technology, the series will map viewers’ physical environments to create an unprecedented level of immersion.

“The promise of XR is this idea that we can now map the story into your own space so you feel like you’re inside it,” explained Darren Brandl, co-founder of XRTV and the project’s conceiver alongside Trent Atherton. “Its superpower is presence: that awe of being transported, the unsettling feeling that a demon is with you — in your room.”

Director Craig William Macneill, known for his work on The Terror, Castle Rock, and Westworld, will helm all six episodes. Atherton is handling the writing duties for the series, which builds upon the supernatural mythology established in the original film. The executive production team includes the Philippou brothers through their Racka Racka banner, alongside Samantha Jennings and Kristina Ceyton from Causeway Films.

The original Talk to Me film became a phenomenon following its Sundance premiere, sparking a competitive bidding war before A24’s theatrical release in 2022. The horror achieved remarkable commercial success, earning over $90 million at the worldwide box office and becoming A24’s highest-grossing horror release.

XRTV, the new venture from Crypt TV co-founders Brandl and Jack Davis, specialises in immersive storytelling across 3D, AR, VR, MR, and spherical screen formats. The studio operates in association with the original film’s producers, Causeway Films and Racka Racka, ensuring continuity with the established creative vision.
