Meg Ryan is saying goodbye to the late Rob Reiner. On Wednesday, the actress, who starred in the Reiner-directed When Harry Met Sally…, shared a sweet tribute to Rob and his wife, Michele, in an Instagram post.
“Oh how we will miss this man,” she wrote. “Thank you, Rob and Michele, for the way you believe in true love, in fairy tales, and in laughter. Thank you for your faith in the best in people, and for your profound love of our country.”
The post featured a photo of Reiner and Meg Ryan, seemingly taken during the filming of When Harry Met Sally…, showing the two waltzing with huge grins on their faces.
“I have to believe that their story will not end with this impossible tragedy, that some good may come, some awareness raised,” Ryan wrote. “I don’t know, but my guess is that they would want that to be hopeful and humane, to be something that brings us all to a greater understanding of one another and to some peace.”
Rob and Michele Reiner were found dead at their Los Angeles home Sunday afternoon, Dec. 14. Their son Nick was arrested that evening and has since been charged with first-degree murder.
Last year, Rob Reiner told CNN that meeting his wife Michele had influenced the ending of When Harry Met Sally.
“It was going to be the two of them seeing each other after years, talking and then walking away from each other,” he said at the time. “Because I had been married for 10 years, I’d been single for 10 years, and I couldn’t figure out how I was ever going to be with anybody … and that gave birth to When Harry Met Sally.”

But things changed when he met Michele. “I met her while we were making the film, and I changed the ending,” he said.
