KPop Demon Hunters already made history with three Grammy nominations, and now the smash Netflix film could potentially conquer another awards show: the Oscars.

According to The Associated Press, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences included KPop Demon Hunters on their list of films eligible for the animated feature category. Despite being released on Netflix, its limited theatrical run makes it qualify for consideration.

Disney’s Elio and Zootopia 2, Neon’s Natalie Portman-produced Arco, and other animated films are also eligible. Nominations for the 98th Academy Awards arrives on Jan. 22, while the ceremony will be held in Los Angeles on March 15, airing live on ABC.

Since its release in June, KPop Demon Hunters is the most-watched original movie in Netflix history — it currently has 325 million views — and a sequel, slated for 2029, is in the works. Its soundtrack has spent the last 22 weeks on the Billboard 200, while “Golden,” performed by Huntr/x, landed four Grammy nominations this month: Song of the Year, Best Song Written For Visual Media, Best Pop Duo/Group Performance, and Best Remixed Recording.

“Nothing’s ever gone this big off of a Netflix property,” a high-ranking K-pop executive recently told Rolling Stone. “It’s pure K-pop. There are no fan wars. There are no label wars. There’s no artist drama. There’s none of the issues that groups face amongst each other.”
