Colman Domingo not only believes in aliens but, while answering Rolling Stone’s “Popcorn Questions,” he confessed, “I am an alien.” Joking aside, the actor, who appeared alongside his Disclosure Day castmate Emily Blunt on the program, said he believed in UAPs and UFOs. “I believe there’s something out in the ethers,” he said. “Why not? You look up at the sky. Why couldn’t something be looking at you?”
Extraterrestrial admissions aside, the actors’ conversation ended up being as funny as it was confessional — a true “disclosure” day, as they answered random questions pulled from a popcorn bucket. They revealed their favorite sci-fi movies (E.T. for Blunt), the reality TV show they’d do best on (Naked and Alone [sic] for Domingo) and their shared fear of actually going to space. But they were also tender in their answers. When reading, “Who would you send to represent humankind to aliens?” the actors agreed it would be Disclosure Day (and E.T.) filmmaker Steven Spielberg. Domingo said Spielberg was a good fit “because he’s the most curious about them,” while Blunt said bluntly, “He’s the best of us.” And, they agreed, he’s cute.
Elsewhere, the actors do E.T.-style alien voices, and Domingo pretends to be an alien speaking like Barry White. Blunt confesses she felt starstruck being in the presence of Bruce Springsteen, and she shares a funny story about how hard it was getting through a scene with Dwayne Johnson speaking with a made-up “ancient language.” The actors also pick apart Britishisms between Blunt and Colin Firth on a text exchange, all making for a funny conversation between the two friends.
Disclosure Day opens on Friday. Rolling Stone gave the movie a positive review. “Spielberg does believe that we are not the only game running in the cosmos,” critic David Fear wrote. “But he also believes that our better angels have not left the building, and that movies still have the power to communally blow minds and open hearts. That idea may strike some as old-fashioned, but it doesn’t seem alien in the slightest.”
