The Scary Movie franchise comeback just got a lot more exciting. On Friday, Marlon Wayans confirmed that Anna Faris and Regina Hall will be reprising their roles of Cindy and Brenda in the next Scary Movie installment, which is scheduled to hit theaters on June 12, 2026.

“We can’t wait to bring Brenda and Cindy back to life and be reunited with our great friends Keenen, Shawn and Marlon — three men we’d literally die for (in Brenda’s case, again),” Faris and Hall said in a statement about their return. (Deadline broke the news.)

Marlon shared an Instagram photo of Hall and Faris as Cindy and Brenda from the first Scary Movie, which premiered in 2000, and co-posted it with the two actresses. The caption simply read: “SM6.” He then shared another post confirming that the “fab four” — himself, Hall, Faris, and brother Shawn Wayans — are “back” for the movie.

“So excited to work and reunite with these two brilliant women. We are so proud of all they have done since the inception of the scary movie franchise,” Marlon wrote. “We [got] the band back together.”

The upcoming Scary Movie will be the Wayans Brothers’ first on-screen reunion in 18 years. They’ll be producing the movie with Rick Alvarez. Jonathan Glickman, Alexandra Loewy, and Thomas Zadra have been tapped as executive producers.

Marlon, Shawn, and Keenen Wayans confirmed that there would be a new Scary Movie coming out last year, with Marlon previously writing on Instagram: “After nearly 20 years, the Wayans brothers are finally going to give the fans what they’ve been asking for… a return to the Scary Movie franchise! We’re looking forward to having fun on the big screen again.”

Keenan Wayans directed the first two Scary Movie films, with brothers Marlon and Shawn Wayans co-writing and starring in the horror flick. Scary Movie grossed more than $42 million in its opening weekend, marking the biggest opening weekend for an R-rated horror movie and a Black director at the time. The most recent sequel, Scary Movie 5, arrived in 2013.
